Therapeutic Massage at Destenee Salon and Spa
Why do our bodies hurt? We were designed as hunters and gatherers. We were supposed to hunt and collect our food and our primary mode of transportation was walking. Everything we do today goes against what we were designed to do. This sedentary lifestyle constricts the circulation of fluids in our bodies and keeps us from engaging our muscles the way they were intended. Over time, pain develops.
We offer a very informative assessment before your first treatment. The assessment will help us to determine what your treatment plan should be as well as what you can do at home. You can ease into treatment with a 30 minute massage or receive a full 60 minute treatment plan after the assessment.
We specialize in Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Release, Prenatal, Postnatal, Oncology and Fibromyalgia massage therapy techniques.

Treatment Plans
Massage therapy treatments work best when delivered on a consistent basis. In Phase One, 60 minute massage treatments should be on a weekly basis for at least four weeks. After Phase One of treatment, considerable results should be noticed and Phase Two should consist of a series of four bi-weekly treatments. At the end of Phase Two, the initial concern should be under control and Phase Three should consist of a maintenance plan. Phase Three is a series of four massage treatments scheduled on a monthly basis designed to keep the body from returning to the previous state. Some variations are necessary and your massage therapist will discuss your treatment plan at your assessment. We offer discounted rates to make these services more affordable. Appointments must be booked consistent with the plan purchased and can not be combined with any other offer or discount.

Deep Tissue
Individual Treatments – $85 for 60 minutes $125 for 90 minutes
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia or connective tissue. Deep tissue massage is defined as slow, deep and specific. Swedish strokes are applied to warm the tissue and then deep tissue strokes are performed on specific muscles. Deep tissue massage is recommended to correct postural deviations, improve muscle tone and to expedite the healing process of an injured muscle. Deep Tissue Massage is not a full body massage.
Prenatal Massage
Individual Treatments – $80 for 60 minutes $120 for 90 minutes
Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage; to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. It’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies. Massage is not allowed in the first trimester, but is strongly recommended in the second and third trimesters. Everyone’s body is different and your massage therapist will tailor a program to your specific needs. We recommend Phase Two at the start of the second trimester and switch to Phase One as the baby nears delivery. Our unique blend of massage cream for Prenatal Massage is a dual purpose blend of Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter and Olive Oil that helps prevent stretch marks!
Postnatal Massage
Individual Treatments – $80 for 60 minutes $120 for 90 minutes
The baby is here! This special time comes with a new set of circumstances. We recommend getting a full body Swedish massage as soon as possible to relax and help alleviate stress. One week after delivery is the optimal time to start a therapeutic massage regimen. We concentrate on restoring elasticity to the abdominal muscles that have been stretch weakened over the past few months and continue to work on loosening the tight muscles. We continue to use our unique blend of massage cream to keep the skin moisturized an improve it’s ability to return to it’s pre-pregnancy state.
Fibromyalgia Massage
Individual Treatments – $85 for 60 minutes $125 for 90 minutes
Fibromyalgia Massage consist of a combination of Myofascial Release, Swedish, Deep Tissue and Trigger Point Release. The combination of techniques varies depending on the current situation. Light pressure is typically used during flare ups and deeper work used as tolerable. This type of massage therapy is one of the most beneficial treatments for fibromyalgia pain and fatigue.
Carpal Tunnel Massage
Individual Treatments – $85 for 60 minutes
Carpal Tunnel Massage is not just working on the wrist. We actually target the median nerve at the source. We follow it from its origination from the spine to the wrist. There are a number of areas that can constrict the median nerve and refer the pain to the wrist. We work through the upper chest, shoulder girdle, upper arm, forearm, wrist and hand. Our objective is to loosen muscle, fascia, retinaculum and the aponeurosis with various massage techniques. We also look for certain trigger points that are known to cause symptoms that mimic Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
